I am so proud of my guild right now. I can not explain how awesome everyone has been about rallying together to help us gain influence so that we can have a shot at doing these guild missions. Our 1st hurdle of getting to Art of War 5 is now out of the way. Tonight I que’d it up and it should be ready in a week. Next up we just need to get the influence together to actual unlock Guild Bounties but with 9k influence in the bank I’m sure we’ll be ok. After that I hope that my plan of getting some friends to help us will pan out. I am determined to make this work so that we can move on from Guild Bounties and to the guild mission we’ll really enjoy.

(Source) This upsets me even more than the original statement about this whole thing. I do not mind working towards something with my guild. I mean that’s why you belong to a guild in the 1st place. What bothers me is that  they introduce, advertise, and play up the fact that this is PvE content and gate the entry point to said PvE content behind PvP upgrades. This is NEW content. If the goal is to make all the lines more attractive then perhaps it would have been a better idea to put the release content in upgrade tree that most guilds would have gotten and then put the next stage in the WvW tree.  I understand the need for gating content. I played WoW for years and I raided quite a bit and I get that developers gate content for many reasons but mainly to ensure that people aren’t consuming vast amounts of content and then becoming bored with the game. But they can’t assume that ALL aspects of your game are for everyone. Why would a PvE focused guild even slightly consider the Art of War tree at all. Even if they had influence to spare. I could see maybe if they are a super larger guild and the excess in influence was so much that the leadership can spare it to upgrade there while still being able to maintain the PvE buffs for their guild members. But smaller PvE guilds such as my own tend to cater our upgrades to things that interest the majority of our guild as a whole.  Also what is with the hate towards smaller guilds. That thread is full of comments about how we should suck it up and just join larger guilds. There are many people, such as myself, who have played in larger guilds at some point in their MMO history and just don’t like them. I’ve built my guild as a place where everyone knows everyone else. I wanted to foster a community where you can build long term friendships. To me that’s what a guild is all about. In larger guilds sometimes its harder to feel at home. You often feel like a cog in the wheel. Larger guilds do serve their purpose to the overall MMO community but you can’t slight smaller guilds because we also serve a purpose.  At the end of the day I understand that eventually I’ll see this new content and it won’t be my guild that kicks it off. It’s just a shame that I’ll have to rely on another guild wanting to do them to give my PvE guild something to do outside of instance runs and chasing dragons.

Lessons Learned

So I got it into my head that I didn’t like my guardian or warrior. Something was off with both of them and so I decided to delete them. I went about all the necessary steps. Making sure I put reusable items in the bank as well as any cash they had accumulated. I then deleted both characters and remade my guardian to look like my warrior. All as well until I realized I had left the red roses from the gem store on my guardian and while they are account bound when I deleted her they are pretty much gone. I would have just brought another set because it was totally my own mistake but they aren’t available anymore. I wrote to support to see if there was anything that could be done and they wrote back basically saying nope. So lesson learned, never give minor alts gem store items and always check every single tab and item before deleting. ‘sigh
