I must ask

Now, I’m sad to admit, I still do not know a LOT about how things work in this fantastic looking game that I am SO looking forward to coming out in the next month. This includes the guild system.

Now, see, I know who the WoW guild system works. Not exactly fond of it, I must say, but it IS familiar to me. Is the GW2 guild system similar, or completely different? And how easy do you guys think it would be to start up a brand new guild once the game is released?

I ask because me, my friends, my boyfriend, and HIS friends all want to be in a guild, obviously. We want there to be more than just us, though, and we don’t know whether to join one that’s already been established or start anew.

We’re all a bunch of dummies who like to pick on each other and use sarcasm to the maaaax. So hopefully we can find some people who can deal with all of us being silly.

You can be in more than one guild in GW2 and depending on the guild you don’t even have to be on the same Home server with them. So you can have a guild for just you guys and find a larger guild when you feel more social.

Basically how it works, at least as of beta weekend 3, is guilds exist across all servers. Your home server is the only server you can represent if you do World vs World. While it wasn’t in the beta you should be able to guest on other servers to do PvE. So let’s say you guys decided to roll on Server of Awesome but you found this great PvE guild called Guild Great on Server of Greatness. You can still join the guild and go over to Server of Greatness to do all the PvE stuff but when you do WvW there would be a possibility you’d be up against your guildies in Guild Great. Also when you are on Server of Awesome as long as you are representing Guild Great you can still see guild chat.

As I’m getting my own guild ready for GW2 I have a member who is in this situation now. He has friends who want to roll on a different server than the one we’ve selected. I told him its cool but I’ll have to kill him on the battlefield if I see him. :P I’d check with any guild you find to see if they will have any kind of limits on this kind of thing. Every guild is different. Hopefully you will all find a guild that suits you.
