Reach for it…..
With less than 24 hours until the 1st Guild Wars beta weekend starts the excitement is starting to build. My friends and I have decided on our server, Maguuma, and getting all our ducks in a row so to speak. Personally I’ve been waiting to actually sit down and have an unlimited amount of time to play since getting a small taste of the game back at PAX East in 2011. So it goes without saying that I CANNOT wait until tomorrow.
As the dedicated fan girl of my group of friends I’ve compiled my list of things that I’m most excited to see this beta weekend.
The Human starting areas – Just this week going back through Guild Wars 1 to clear up some bonus missions I realized all these places will still be in Guild Wars 2 but just evolved. That excites me. That I’ll see a place and go “omg I know this” is awesome. It’s like going back to the neighborhood you grew up on as a kid.
Trying out the Mesmer class – I played a Mesmer through most of the Nightfall campaign and I loved it. I waited anxiously for the last class reveal and was so happy when they said it would be a Mesmer. I can’t wait to see what changes they’ve made with the class.
Personal Stories – I’m a writer at heart. It’s another of my hobbies that I greatly enjoy. I love coming up with stories for my characters in games. Over at Gamebreaker TV Scott Hawkes has put together a great series on the personal story of his Guardian. I can’t wait to play out my personal story and after this weekend I hope to have a better idea of how to tie my GW1 character into my GW2 character.
World vs World – There was a time at the end of the Burning Crusade expansion that you could not get me out of AV. I loved that place. I loved the chaos. I loved the excitement. I loved laughing manically while I dotted up the whole place with my warlock. From the videos I’ve seen World v World shows that it can be all of that and more on a MUCH larger scale.
Exploration – One of the things I took away from the Arena Net panel last year was that this game is in large part about exploration. You see something off in the distance well you can go there. I can’t wait to just roam around and see what new and exciting places I can find.
I’m sure I could think of lots more but I think 5 is good enough. Now if you will excuse me it’s time to prepare for this weekend. Have fun guys and see you in Tyria. ‘wave
